1. The Third Ward encompassed the 83 block area bounded by High Street on the east and Belmont Avenue on the west. The northern boundary was the junction of Springfield and South Orange Avenues at High Street to Belmont Avenue/Jones Street on the west. Today, Belmont Avenue is Irvine Turner Boulevard. High Street is Martin Luther King Boulevard. The Third Ward is now part of the Central Ward.
