Robert W. Anderson
Born 30 May 1895 in Newark; During Word War I, Robert was assigned to the 312th Infantry, Company B, 1st Battalion, Quarter Master Clerks Detachment, United States National Army, and served in France; he was promoted twice and was discharged as a Sergeant; his enlistment was from September 19, 1917 until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1919. September 4, 1919 he was appointed a Patrolman with the Newark Police, 5th Precinct; he was later transferred and assigned to Day Detective Bureau at Headquarters, June 30, 1921; Promoted to Sergeant and assigned to regular sergeant's patrol duty, 4th Precinct. Died March 5th, 1930 as the result of being shot while attempting to make an arrest. Source for Police Records Folder No. 1489, Newark Police Museum, Fraternal Order of Police.
